Argentina is a successful, powerful, and beautiful nation in the very south of Latin America. It has a GDP of $986.134 Billion, a population of 45.82 million, and an area 1,073,512 square miles. It has many astonishing geographical sights, including the tallest mountain in Latin America. Also, Argentina has gone toe to toe with some of the most powerful nations on Earth, as they have fought the U.K in 1982 and at one point they had one of the top 10 GDP's in the world. Additionally, the country has amazing sights and a rich history, from the ancient Diaguiata to the Gulf War.

History
Today, Argentina is one of the most powerful and successful Latin American nations consisting of a wide variety of people and cultures. How did this come to be? The story of Argentina begins in about 500 CE when the Diaguita, a pre-Columbian civilization, settled in the north of Argentina. Unfortunately, when the Spanish arrived in 1516, they fought with the Diaguita and subdued them. Then, the Spanish established a colony on the site of modern day Buenos Aires in 1580. After that, in 1807, when Napoleon took control of the Iberian peninsula, former Spanish officers led by Jose de San Martin sensed weakness in the Spanish control and revolted along with the rest of the inhabitants of the new nation. Right after the creation of Argentina in 1816, a civil war was fought between most of the country and the region of Buenos Aires until 1880. This was fought over whether or not to unite the many previously mentioned provinces in Argentina into a single nation and it was won by the faction that was pro-unification. Then, in World War 2, there was a naval skirmish between the U.K. and Germany off of the coast of the Falkland Islands near Argentina (1939). After that, many Nazis hid in Argentina and one really important one was found there in 1960 by Mossad, the Israeli intelligence service, who killed him later. Then, in 1982, Argentina invaded the officially British-owned Falkland islands because they thought that the islands were traditionally theirs. The U.K was not very pleased with this and launched an all out invasion of the Falkland islands, winning them back in the same year. In 1990-1991, Argentina became the first and only Latin American country to participate in the first Gulf War. In 2024, the people of Argentina are mostly European and of mixed European and Amerindian descent, but there are also a few pure Amerindians and even fewer African Americans. This large European population is the result of large numbers of Spanish colonizers living in Argentina. Today, as a result of its persistence, resilience, and ingenuity, Argentina is arguably the most successful, powerful, and important Latin American country.
