Flag Explanation
The Argentinian Flag was created by Manuel Belgarao in 1812 during the Argentine Revolution. It was first raised in Rosario. The need for an Argentinian flag arose from the necessity to distinguish revolutionaries from the yellow and red-wearing Spainards. In the creation of this flag, Manuel decided to commemorate the first mass revolutionary demonstration, when the sun was shining in the blue sky. Therefore, he put the Sun of May (it represents the Incan sun god Inti) on the flag, showing that heaven was looking benevolent upon the Argentine people. He put this sun on the background of white and blue, which represent the snowy Andes and the blue sky respectively.
Economy
Argentina’s economy is a rapidly growing and relatively successful economy centered around the services and agriculture, with 20% of its $986.134 GDP coming from agriculture and 53.05% coming from the services. Since agriculture is so important to Argentina, its two biggest exports are corn and soybean. Also, the large number of people who work in the service sector allows Argentina to make delivery trucks its third largest export. However, Argentina’s small industry sector forces the country to import large amounts of arguably the most important industry product: car parts. In addition, Argentina lacks oil fields and access to natural gas, making these Argentina’s second and third largest imports. Another result of the large services sector is that all of Argentina’s biggest companies are related to the services, with the top three being MercadoLibre (the Argetinian version of Amazon), Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales (an energy company), and Celulosa Argentina (Argentina's cellular company). This large market is only sustainable with capitalism, which is Argentina’s economic system. Because of Argentina’s consistently growing economy, its people live relatively comfortably, with a $21,500 GDP per capita, only 42.67 people per square mile, and a decent life expectancy of 75.5 years for males as well as 81.7 years for females.
